Field Descriptions for Site-Profiles Connection Tab

Connection Type
Select a connection type to be used to login to the selected systems:
Standard Modem Connection
Select this option when connecting to a legacy G3 system over standard dialup modem. Used for most Legacy Definity G3 systems as well as Intuity and Definity Audix systems.
RAS/PPP Connection
SSelect this option when connecting to a system over dialup PPP when a valid remote user and password have already been assigned. Used for most S8xxx series Communications Manager systems.
Direct IP Connection
SSelect this option when connecting to a system via direct IP Address or VPN.
Use SSH
Select this checkbox to use SSH (Secure Shell) when connecting to a system. Usually required when connecting to an S8xxx system running Communications Manager 3.1 or higher. Secure Shell or SSH is a network protocol that allows data to be exchanged using a secure channel between two networked devices.
Login
Select a username to login the the selected system. The system will use authentication to validate the login for the selected site.
Password
Select a password to login the the selected system. The system will use authentication to validate the login for the selected site.
PIN
Starting with CM 4.0.1, a Pin field is required when logging on with dadmin. For more information click here.
Telephone Number
Enter the telephone number to be dialed when connecting to a system using either RAS/PPP or Standard Modem connections.
Out Grp
Select the outgoing group to be used when dialing a system using a standard modem connection (Default = 1). The outgoing group defines which AlarmTraq ports will be used to dial a system. For more information on Outgoing groups click here.
Alt Modem Init String (Optional)
Enter an alternate modem initialization string to be used when connecting to this site. If the site is an older system that requires you to connect at 12000bps or 2400 bps you can enter the new string here. This string will be sent to the modem just before the ATDT command is sent to dial the system.
IP Address/Hostname
Enter the IP address or hostname of the system when using a Direct IP Connection or VPN Connection. If entering an IP address use the x.x.x.x format.
Port
Enter the IP Port number when using a Direct IP Connection or VPN Connection (Default = 5023). The port number should match SAT service port (IP-Services) assigned in the system. Typical entries are 5023 for Communications Manager or 5111 for Legacy Definity G3 (R8 or higher) using a CLAN board.
RAS User
Select a remote user when a RAS/PPP Connection is used. The system will use this to authenticate and validate the connection.
RAS Password
Select a password user when a RAS/PPP Connection is used. The system will use this to authenticate and validate the connection.
